AvertedVision
To see a faint star, astronomers look just beside it. The edge of your vision catches what staring straight at it misses.
About
Averted Vision is an independent software studio. We make creative tools that behave like the real materials they're modeled on.
Averted Vision LLC was founded in 2026 in Weaverville, NC by a software developer and watercolor painter. We build our own GPU simulation engines so that digital tools respond the way physical ones do: paint that flows, settles and dries, and brushes that load and run out.
We care about craft over features, and about respecting the people who use our tools. Our apps are a one-time purchase, show no ads, and never use your artwork to train AI.

Puddle: Real Watercolor
A watercolor app for iPad that works like a real watercolor kit. Load your brush from paint pans, mix colors in ceramic wells, rinse in the water jar, and watch the paint bloom, granulate and dry on textured paper.
- Real paint pans, mixing wells, a water jar and a towel for blotting
- Paint that blooms wet-in-wet, granulates and dries with crisp edges
- Brushes that load, run dry and lift paint back off the paper
- Cold press, hot press and rough papers in real-world sizes
- Full-resolution export, with paintings synced through iCloud
